Spring Training 2012

Ahhhh…….It’s that time of year! The wind is a little brisk in the morning, beautiful sunsets, and baseball is in the air. Saturday, the Philadelphia Phillies’ pitchers and catchers began reporting for Spring Training. The past couple of days other players have been showing up eager to get started. Halladay for one! In his ‘32 Ford! Sweeeeet!!! Howaaaaarddd!! That’s right! Ryan Howard is already running sprints and takin’ ground balls. He’s lookin’ good so far. Another player who is lookin’ good so far is Jim Thome. Oh yea………He’s back and he’s crushin’ it! How do I know!?! Cause I was in Clearwater yesterday morning takin’ some pics of our beloved Phils. Thome was smashing home runs all over the place. Oh yea….He’s still got it! I have to say they all looked good and hungry. Hungry for another title. Pence was a madman! Even though it’s the first few days and most hitters are swinging at 1/2 to 3/4 swing, Pence was driving balls out of the ballpark like his life depended on it. While in the cage, after hitting a ball literally out of the ballpark, Pence hit a line drive right at Utley and Thome who were shooting the sh@# with Rubén Amaro in foul territory on the third base side. Utley reached up and snagged it inches from Thome’s head saving him from god knows what! Then I yelled……”JIM, CHASE JUST SAVED YOUR LIFE!!” Thome looked back and said ” Yea he did’! This Week in Photos

Holy cow! Has it really been a month since my last post!?! Man I’m a slacker! Guess I should call it “This Month in Photos.” In my last post, which seems like forever ago, I was explaining how I’ve been trying a lot of HDR Photography. It’s so much fun!!! As you can see, I like exclamation points! With digital photography there are many times I feel like all I do is hold the shutter down, fire off a few hundred shots, and wait for a good picture to show up on my LCD screen. With HDR, I’m using a tripod, getting myself into position, composing the shot, and still playing with the gear and settings. It makes me feel more like a photographer. It’s pretty cool! HDR Photography

In the last month or so I’ve been playing around with HDR Photography. HDR stands for “High Dynamic Range”. In HDR Photography you usually merge several photos at different exposures to give you the best overall picture. I use Photomatix Pro to blend these images. What Photomatix does is it takes the best pixels of each image and blends them together to form one. Most commonly, 3 exposures are used. I’m always looking for new things in the world of photography. Whether it’s a new camera, wedding, engagement, sporting event, or just something I’ve never shot before. HDR is one of those things. It’s a little more work but it makes you think about the shot more. Check it out………

My Year in Photos 2011 Part 1

The other day I was editing a few pictures I took of my daughter for Christmas. While doing so I couldn’t help notice on how much she has grown this past year. So I started looking back at pictures from earlier in the year. It’s been a year filled with joy and happiness for me. Phillies Spring Training, my Mother staying in Pass-a-Grille during the Spring, the Florida State Fair, Kelly’s first trip to Disney, a quick trip to Philadelphia to visit family and friends, and shooting my first Wedding. Plus much, much more. While viewing all the photos I made the decision to go back and share them all with you. These are in no special order. Just random picked and uploaded. I hope you enjoy them. Here we go! My first Wedding! Let me know how I did. Very exciting and fast paced. Beautiful bride and groom. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. After the wonderful ceremony we had some time to take some great shots. Then, headed on over to St. Petersburg Nights for some dancing and good times. I had a great time. A big thanks to Amanda with ALT Photography for letting me tag along!

Pass-a-Grille Beach Shoot

Last week we ventured out to Pass-a-Grille Beach for a shoot with some friends of mine and their family. A little cloudy but it made for some nice soft light. I’ve been wanting to photograph down by the jetty with all the rocks, beautiful sea oats, and flowers. After one lady was nice enough to move her stuff we had it all to ourselves for some nice pictures. Thank you everyone for letting me photograph your beautiful family. And THANK YOU Mr. fly-by-on-a-parachute-with-a-fan-strapped-to-your-back man!

Scalloping in Homosassa

Back in July some buddies and I made a three day trip up to Homosassa Springs, FL to open the scalloping season. What a great time! Until, well, I’ll tell ya later. For now, I’ll just show you some pictures. This was my second trip to Homosassa fishing for scallops. We did the same last year. Lots of fun! It’s like an Easter Egg Hunt under the water! We rented a 25 ft pontoon boat, grabbed some fishing gear, some bait, and headed up on through the inter-coastal waters. What a great little secret it is up there. Lots of stuff to do. Scalloping, fishing, or just hopping from bar to bar without having to barely leave the boat. Each offering all types of great food and populated with nice down-to-earth people. Going up there in July, as you could imagine, is extremely hot! Understatement! But you can always maneuver the boat back in to the Springs, jump in and cool off. The water is so refreshing after a hot day on the boat. Then, back to the campsite it is for some cooked scallops and great stories.

Sunsets

As you hopefully all know by now from my pictures over the years that I live in one of the most beautiful places in the country! It’s beautiful for many reasons. My favorite reason is the Sunsets. It seems as though no matter what the weather, the Sun is able to find it’s way back to clears skies right before it hits the water. All up and down the Gulf Beaches people gather every day, whether good or bad weather, to watch it happen. Here are some of my favorites I was lucky enough to capture over the years.
